Matt Forte

Chicago Bears runningback Matt Forte in action during this year's Training Camp

Being on-line & on Twitter (@jmtorrey) has its advantages. One of them is getting invited to plenty of excellent Leagues. This standard scoring (non-PPR) 10 Team League drafted earlir tonight & here are the results for my team. I was absent for the 1st 3 Picks (watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s) but Forte & Johnson were both from my Draft Sheet (happy with both). Must start QB, WR (x3), RB (x2), TE, K, DST.

Having the 4th Pick, I was very happy to land Forte. I’d have been happier if this was a PPR League but I’m happy with Forte either way (he is my #2 RB in all formats). Andre Johnson was the 4th WR off the board & I was very happy to see him fell to me (he also is my #2 WR in all formats). So the start was great.

However, Barber in the 3rd Round was very unlike my normal strategy. My plan going into almost every draft is to ignore RB in the 3rd & either get another top tier WR or QB. Given that I lost my chance at Manning (both Brady & Brees drafted in the 2nd Round), I waited to address my QB position (I also completely ignored both the Kicker & DST positions).

Eddie Royal in the 4th

might have been a reach in a non-PPR League. But 4 of my next 6 picks following Barber were WRs & I felt like I good value with them. Capping of a happy draft I landed Keller in the 15h Round. If I had known I could get him there I would have passed on the early drafting of Cooley.

I am not a big Forte fan, but other than that I absolutely love what you did with this team. Love Cooley and 85 where you got him. Love picking up both Jones and Greene where you snagged both. Keller in the last round is sick. You’re going to have a hard time finding 2 guys to cut for a kicker and defense. And by “hard time” I mean what were you doing drafting Muhammad and Curtis? :)

The one guy I’m not a fan of is Avery. I’d be interested to see what QBs you passed up on in that round, even though I’m really high on both Hasselbeck and Cassel this year (top 8 both).

    Great work.
