Wide Receivers
Start:
Lee Evans @ Atlanta – Atlanta is giving up the 2nd most points to receivers and even with the unknown at quarterback this week in Buffalo, I feel Evans should have a decent enough day to warrant a start.
Greg Jennings against Seattle – Jennings has had an up and down year, which has made him frustrate several fantasy owners and possibly even made them make drastic decisions each week around this one player. Do yourself a favor and don’t over think Jennings this week. He is going against the worst pass defense in the league and should have a monster game.
TJ Houshmandzadeh @ Green Bay – Equally as bad, is the Green Bay pass defense, which should allow TJ to get free and have a pretty big game this week.
Michael Crabtree against Detroit – This is a match up that you should love as a Crabtree owner and is part of the reason you should have picked him up several weeks ago. Not only is he the #1 receiver for the 49ers right now, he has one of the most favorable match ups of the week, which couldn’t have come at a better time if you are in the championship week.
Sit:
Reggie Wayne against New York Jets – I don’t think Wayne will play the whole game, but he might still have some value in deeper leagues if you are tight on receivers and have no other viable option. He will also be going against the top cover corner in the game in Revis, which should limit his looks. I realize benching Wayne is a gamble, but I don’t mind a good gamble once in a while, even if it is championship week.
Hines Ward against Baltimore – Ward is going against one of the top passing defenses in the league and the Ravens won’t let him beat them this week. If you are in a PPR league, it might be worth starting Ward because he will get a lot of underneath looks for short yardage, but I don’t see him having a great day against that defense.
Jason Avant against Denver – It was thought that with the injury to Maclin, Avant would get several more targets. That hasn’t been the case or beneficial if you own him and have started him. This week he is going against a stellar pass defense in Denver and will not be effective.
Tight Ends
Start:
Jermichael Finley against Seattle – Finley has been a beast ever since returning from injury and has quickly became a pass happy Aaron Rodgers’ best friend. He should be in for a huge game against the worst pass defense in the league in the Seahawks.
Zach Miller @ Cleveland – Miller should be back from his concussion this week, which is great timing considering Cleveland is one of the worst teams in the league at giving up points to the tight end position.
Sit:
Greg Olsen against Minnesota – Olsen is going against the top team to stop tight ends this week and should only be a last resort option. Olsen has been a very hot/cold player this year and is currently on the cold side, which should caution you away from playing him outside of desperate situations.
